I had a map...

The one I have now is quite different from the first one given to me the day I was born. My parents had been working on it for months before I began my journey and continued planning the trails for years. Where was my life to go? Who was I to become? What paths would I follow – smooth and flat, steep and rocky, or gently rolling? Would the forks in the trails and crossroads be well marked?

The trails they chose for me were simple, gentle ones – familiar ones to them. I started down the path of an easy, happy childhood. The vistas were beautiful and awe-inspiring. The forests I passed through were filled with places of wonder and magic. When it stormed, the sounds of giants bowling filled the skies with thunder, while lightening flew from the feet of fairies dancing. Every storm brought rainbows, and I was surrounded with love.

The map was clear – the trails clearly marked. The path to adventures and endless possibilities lay open at my feet…

It begins...

Life is a journey. Nothing remains the same; so, we evolve to fit the world around us at that moment. It truly is like a river or stream. Sometimes it carves the earth to fit its needs. Sometimes it flows around the rocks and trees in its path. The river ebbs gently, and then creates waves, bouncing along. It is always changing and redefining itself. A river begins small and grows as it makes its journey to the ocean.

There are also similarities to hiking, which I love. Keeping in mind the passage of the river and the paths we take, I will be looking at life. Like a walk through the woods, I may ramble, but it is part of the journey. Join me as I go exploring...
